Guest yowx Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 Hi, I'm not sure where else to put this actually, but I'm new here and came across this site. What I'm having trouble with is differentiating between User Agents of various Smart Phones. I want to be able to have various smart phones navigate to my site and be able to provide them with personalized information depending on the phone they have. I have been able to do "regular" cellphones with simple user agents like Nokia7610, SIE-S65, etc... But I am having a little trouble with Smart phones and their user agents. For example, the user agents I was able to find after perusing wurfl and a couple other sites came up with these results: Treo 600: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 95; PalmSource) Treo 650: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/hspr-H102; Blazer/4.0) T-Mobile MDA(german): Mozilla/4.0(compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) T-Mobile MDA II(german): Mozilla/4.0(compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) There is no difference between the MDA and MDA2. And there's only a slight difference in the end of the user agents between the Treos. I know it's really because of the OS they're using, but I would still think that there would be something unique in their user agents that I would be able to parse out and use to differentiate. For example, Motorola MPX200 and MPX220, were differentiated by their user agents by listing the exact device being used - MPX200 and MPX220. Am I missing something or does anyone have any idea on how I can differentiate between smart phones so that I can tell what model their using? Also, does anyone know where else I can find user agents for smart phones like the ones listed?
