Guest s4czech Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 I just started using this Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphone (typhoon) as a new test device. I noticed that Orb will no longer work in windows media. It worked fine when it was Windows Mobile 2003SE WM5 Media Player plays my local MP3's just fine WM5 Media Player plays http://www.xstreamxm.com/mobile/ just fine WM5 Media Player plays various .WMV videos perfect I also tried it on a Pocket PC with WM5 as well. (same problem) -Please wait while Orb measures the network speed. (success) -I see my favorites and play a tv station (looks good) -Windows Media opens with error: "Cannot play the file. The file is either corrupted or the Player does not suport the format you are trying to play" Is there a 3GP smartphone app that can handle orb streams? I wonder why orb doesnt hand off the stream correctly to the new media player 10.1?
Guest jporch316 Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 PV Player should work with .3gp files - dont know if PV player will work with wm5 though - i doubt it as its not supported yet

I'm using Orb on Pocket PC. Watching CNN is wonderful when I'm bored at the Dentist or Dr office. I also love having remote access to my archived divx/xvid videos!!! (so cool) I also have added custom radio from http://www.di.fm (trance, chill, and mostly classical) The other big thing about Orb is it adds a HUGE "wow factor" when I give a demo of Pocket PC for various business meetings. People are blown away when they see live TV streaming to a PHONE over GPRS/EDGE! (I have the HP iPAQ hw6515) It's even more amazing seeing live tv streaming to an ultra small SmartPhone such as the SMT 5600 Audiovox (Typhoon) People are then very excited when they learn orb is free. I've been spreading the Orb gospel on various forms. I tried another program called avvenu that was simiar to orb but they dont even do transcoding! http://www.avvenu.com Demo's are ALL about Windows Mobile 5.0 this month, so I hope it orb will play nice with media player 10.1 soon! Thanks for all the fun, and keep up the good work at orb! Edited September 3, 2005 by s4czech
Guest s4czech Posted September 3, 2005 Report Posted September 3, 2005 Core Player (Beta Player) "might" be a good work around. http://www.corecodec.com/index.php?option=...=0&topic=1788.0 I couldnt get it to take over the file association though so far (see page two)
