Guest antonyc Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 i dont know where to send it, probably orange or the equivelant provider we need smartphone games to run at 240x320 resolution now.. may not be important for non spv c550 users, but when u get later phones, there are gonna be not many games to play :) please help
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 There is no where to send a petition, as it's the individual developer that decides if they will support the higher resolution. It's early days and I'm sure if muff sees this he can go into very fine detail how hard this actually is to do.
Guest mcwarre Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 "we need a petition for spv c550 game, this effects us all" Doesn't affect me; I don't have a C550 :)
Guest beersoft Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 all the new games should support the higher res screens (PMG2 and dreamway and some others support it already) and firedrill which iirc is a well old 'release tite' game and that happly supports qvga and dont forget there are still some games that still sell that dont work on a c500 (i dont have a personal grudge against tokitori or anything like that) (just to add more fuel to the fire) if someone asked me to redo a 12 month old game to support full screen on a new device i proberbly would tell them to stick it as i would have moved on to bigger and better projects what your asking for is the same as asking someone to change a 16bit windows 3 app to use all the cool features of XP, it might happen (if your going to bankroll it), or maybe asking EA to get some of there older titles to work propperly in a window in xp, i would love to see the original startrek game work in xp propperly and not at a billion fps, the answer (if they gave you one) would be "no, its not designed for that, why should we spend X man hours (and Y hundreds of pounds/dollars/euros/etc) porting a old and now unsupported product to the new platform". yes muff did get eclipse working full screen, that was mostly to prove that he can do it (even without a device) and people asked him nicely, the chance of getting anyone to want to revisit an end of life product, just to make it work full screen instead of developing a new and better product that will support q/vga devices/wm5/ppc and smartphone in one box. dunno, i wouldnt sign it later Owen
Guest muff Posted September 3, 2005 Report Posted September 3, 2005 (edited) I'll keep this short :) the short answer is that developers WILL switch to support the newer hi-res devices, that's only natural but atm we are in something of a transitional state whereby there are loads of 'old' res Smartphones out there and relatively few 'new' res ones but the 'new' res is at least a multiple of the new PPC res's (and indeed IS the res of old PPC) so I dont think it will take developers long to switch tho along with the res changes we are also going through an OS change as well (to Window Mobile 5) and that just complicates matters Edited September 3, 2005 by muff
