Guest martin Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 I assume you have a prepaid SIM and not a contract. Start by deleting all existing dialup, proxy and GPRS settings and then try the following. Start>Settings>Data Connections>Menu>Edit Connections GPRS Connection: Description: O2 GPRS Wap Connects to: The Internet Access point: payandgo.o2.co.uk Username: payandgo Password: password Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 I.P address: blank Proxy connection: Description: O2 WAP proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: Wap Network Proxy(name:port): 193.113.200.195:8080 Type: HTTP Username: Password: In the main data connections menu make 'WAP connection: O2 GPRS WAP' In Internet explorer, Menu-Options-Connections, untick 'automatically detect settings' and make 'Select network: WAP network. Try accessing http://www.google.com If you get an 'unable to connect' error then change the GPRS connection to Genie settings. Access point: wap.o2.co.uk Username: geniewap Password: password MMS setup GPRS connection: (use whichever APN, username, password that works above) Description: O2 MMS Connects to: Secure WAP network Access point: payandgo.o2.co.uk Username: payandgo Password: password Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 I.P address: blank In the main data connections menu. Secure wap connection: O2 MMS Start>Messaging>Media Messages>Menu>Options>Account Setup>Media Messages Menu- Edit connections - Menu- Add Server: O2 MMS Download Messsages: automatically Outgoing message size: less than 100kb Allowed message types: personal Menu>Edit connections Description: O2 MMS MMSC Address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 Data Connection: Secure WAP network Gateway: WAP 1.0 Gateway I.P Address: 193.113.200.195 Port: 9201 Hope this helps :o
Guest inlinesk8a Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 im on the genuie sim (the txt one)
Guest martin Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 You can try APN's payandgo.o2.co.uk and wap.o2.co.uk They are both in the instructions I posted.
Guest inlinesk8a Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 it says didnt find page, which is better than unable to connect lol any suggestions?
Guest martin Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 it says didnt find page, which is better than unable to connect lol any suggestions? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>That you means you are connected and the APN, username and password you are using is valid. 'Page not found' can be a problem with the proxy settings. Can you double check that you have the following. Connects from: The Internet Connects to: WAP Network Proxy(name:port): 193.113.200.195:8080 Type: HTTP Also check GPRS connection and make sure that nothing is entered in the IP address. You should really be transfering data now unless there is a fault with O2.
Guest inlinesk8a Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 iv checked it adn teh port was wrong and i chanegd it to :8080 and type to http but the same prob occurs " page cannot be found..."
Guest martin Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 That's strange, it should be working. Delete the proxy connection (plus any other proxy connections that exist) and then re-enter it. See if that helps.
Guest inlinesk8a Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 it still says " Page you are looking cannot be found" :-( iv redone all the settings too :-(
Guest inlinesk8a Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 edit ok i just posted this same time as u
Guest martin Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 What page are you trying to connect to ? Try other websites.
Guest inlinesk8a Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 what desc shall i give the new proxy thing
Guest martin Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 what desc shall i give the new proxy thing <{POST_SNAPBACK}>The desciption doesn't matter so you can actually call it anything. Just make sure that your first delete all existing proxy connections (so there are none) and then recreate the O2 proxy connection.

Guest inlinesk8a Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 i must go ill bump this topic 2mro morning if i can
Guest inlinesk8a Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 can anyone confirm if this is correcta dn tell me what i need to change
Guest martin Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Still no luck then ? :o In 4 easy steps, this is all you need for O2 prepaid GPRS WAP. 1 Create GPRS connection: The Internet, payandgo.o2.co.uk, payandgo, password 2 Create proxy conenction: The Internet, WAP network, 193.113.200.195:8080, HTTP 3 In data connections make 'WAP network: (GPRS connection)' 4 In IE, untick autodetect settings and make 'Select network: WAP network' I can only recommend deleting EVERYTHING you have in dialup, proxy and GPRS connections and create only the above WAP connection (forget MMS for the moment). This really should work without problems. If it still fails... Are you sure you have credit on the SIM ? Have you tested GPRS with the SIM in another phone ?
