Help Needed

I've got an iMate Smartphone 2 running the 2003 edition of Win.

Lately when I need to type an sms i cant use the letters on the 7 key. when I press it it just types 7 constantly until i press another key (it also does this when adding a new sim contact). It also now happening when I dial numbers as now i cant dial a number with two 7s in a row. If i press the 7 key the second time nothing happens.

I've tried a number of things including restoring the factory setting on my phone in the hope that this would fix it but it didnt.

You guys got any idea what i cant do to fix this? Its getting really annoying.

Also is there a way i can clean my phone because the stick scroller is responding less and less.
