Hi all,

Whilst I’m at it I also want to ask about battery life on these phones.

I’ve turned off Bluetooth, IRDA, and turned down brightness as far a possible. I turn off the unit when ever I’m not holding it. I even go into flight mode when on the tube etc.

However I seem to get nowhere near a working 5 hr battery life as claimed on the little screen monitor thing…

I could cope with that, what has really annoyed me is when happens when the main battery dies.

Tonight for the first time I ran the main battery down to the phone cutting off mid-call.

When I got home I put it straight onto charge and after a few mins to get started turned it on. To get “Welcome to you phone” and having to restart… everything gone.

Three mins later when all the orange mods have installed (of which there are far too many and you can’t uninstall – big storage is probably for me…) I go to the battery status to find the backup battery is at 100% and the main battery is slowly charging.

What is the point of the backup battery ??

Any answers are appreciated below:

Thanks,

Pau101

also take in consideration the signal strength if your network provider... the lower strength it is the harder the phone will get in tryin to find the next best carrier of that signal (transmitter) which can cause some use of the battery

I'm struggling to appreciate how you know you don't get anywhere near the 5 hour working capacity of the battery? I couldn't possibly use my phone for 5 hours solid (unless I was going for one playing solitaire...)

Personally I wouldn't bother with faffing about lowering the backlight brightness and putting in in flight mode (too slow). Just lower the timeouts for backlight and auto switch off down to the minimum end of the scale. The fact you say you lost everything, suggests to me a rogue battery. It might well be worth your while logging the problem with your Orange so at least they have a record of it happening, so, if it happens again, you have at least one leg to stand on.

Well, my m500 life is superb to tell you the truth. Better than I imagined, only goes down like 3% during the night (10 hours). I charged it about 2 days ago, and I have 1:15 left. So not bad atall. I think you should get nagging at orange for a replacement.

I've found the battery to be absolutely fine. When using with TomTom GPS (bluetooth) having not plugged the 500 in then it will still go for a couple of hours straight and have half the battery left. I think you may have a dud.
