Guest beckershoff Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 I just bought a mda compact from ebay with the 1.01 rom still installed on it. The first day i could normally call with it, but now I changed to the 1.12 rom and I can`t hear the people I call through the speaker. The weird about it is that I can listen to my mp3`s and stuff and calling with a headset is also not a problem. It also doesn`t matter if I am caller or I get called. I tried now 2 1.12 roms (imate & orange). I don`t think its related with the speakersoldering or a defect headphonesocket. Someone know how to solve this weird problem because its a little bit irritating calling all the time trough a headset!?
Guest beckershoff Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Weird, yesterday I installed the 1.12 t-mobile rom on my mda compact and I didn`t encounterd any callingproblems anymore even after several soft-resets. Does this maybe mean that I can`t use other roms than t-mobile on my mda compact?
Guest bretto Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 is the 1.12 ROM the same minor number on all ROMs? Wondering if the radio version is different?? You could try installing the T-mobile 1.12 ROM but instead of using the t-mobile extended ROM replace it with the one for your brand/device before you upgrade. Thats what I did to upgrade my o2 to 1.12.
Guest beckershoff Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 (edited) Argh, since yesterday the problem appeared again! I used bluetooth that day so maybe that's the reason for it (I discoverd that some m2000 user got a sortalike problem with the speaker and bleutooth). The strangest thing is that when I change the volume between a call I hear the other person very soft in the background for al ess than second. Btw. the 1.12 where all the same except the Orange rom wich had a newer radio version, but the sound between a call through the speaker didn`t work at all! Edited September 13, 2005 by beckershoff
Guest beckershoff Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 I have seen on forum.xda-developers.com that the phonespeaker is probaly disconnected from the phone. Is it true that the speakerconnection isn`t even solderd? Is there any way to solder them (I`m hoping having to open my Magician not more than one time)? Btw. now I am calling with my magician without the headset but using the bigger speaker on the back of the phone by holding the green button for 2 sec. just before a call, wich is really annoying because everbody around me can also hear the people I`m talking with. Does somebody got good pics of a solution (I`ve got already the pdf from xda-developers but maybe someone have some more detailed pics). And is it really better to use a nokia speaker from the 6600 series instead the standard one?
Guest beckershoff Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Isn`t there anybody here who had the same problem and had found a solution? I would really appreciate any comments before I try to open my phone!
Guest Pondrew Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 As you mentioned there's an issue on the HTC Blue Angel of being unable to hear a caller until a soft reset. Never heard of it on an HTC Magician though. You're sure it couldn't be cause by something you've installed or by having edited the registry? Does it survive a soft reset? I would be inclined to try and get the device replaced given this doesn't seem to be a known problem with the Magician.
