Guest dazza12 Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 Can't really see the problem. At the moment, teams can't play on, because the TV company rules that they can't change the schedule. At least on Sky, they can show the match uninterrupted. As to the 'Ordinary channel' comment, how do you define an Ordinary channel? One that needs to interrupt it's coverage to show an 8 year old episode of Friends? If anything, it's a shrewd move. There's enough subscribers out there, plus the number that may sign up or upgrade due to this. And the ones that don't, there's always the pub.

Well most people cant afford £40+ a month for the SKY man so therefore cricket will no longer have the audience of young children and adults. Channel five will have the highlights. But I'm very pissed off.
Guest dazza12 Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 Who's moneybags? And what says you have to pay over £40 to get sports channels? You can have anything between all the free channels up to the full package, picking your own. What's stopping you getting Freesat and subscribing to one sports channel? Or even Freeview / TopUpTV, I understand there's either one of the sports channels on there or plans to get one on there in the near future. It's not cheap to televise major sporting events, so you've either got to upset the cricket viewers by interrupting the match to show multiple adverts to pay for the coverage, or upset the other viewers that are hoping to watch Friends/Hollyoaks/Ch4 News etc. At least putting it on a channel that shows only sports gives you the choice of whether to watch or not. And if you can't afford Sky, why can't you watch the match in a pub?
