Guest paulrich Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Recently upgraded from a C500 :o to an M500 :( . Used the DVD to Smartphone app on the C500 and obviously the DVD to Pocket PC on the M500. All works fine with normal DVD movies etc but having grief with recorded material off my recordable DVD player downstairs. (H&B DVX 430) http://www.dabs.com/uk/channels/homeentert...?quicklinx=3NJW The problem is no audio. The video playback is fine. I have tried all the DVD to PPC programmes such as POCKET DVD WIZARD, POCKET DVD STUDIO and the above mentioned programme from Makayama, even downloading codecs etc but all with the same results. It obviously seems like its to do with the DVD recorder or even the discs i'm using. (DVD+RW). Could one of you fine people shed any light on this problem as i'm running out of hair. Many thanks, Paul
Guest Palindrome Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 I have no experience with DVD to Pocket PC or similar programs so I don't know how exactly the process works. Personally, I'd try copying the files off the DVD+RW onto the hard disk and making sure they have audio when playing directly from your computer. If they do then try encoding the files from your hard drive. If DVD to Pocket PC only allows encoding from the DVD drive then you could possibly create an ISO of the DVD+RW and mount it as a virtual DVD drive (there are a lot of programs that will allow you to do this, such as Alcohol 120%). My guess would be the audio codec used by the recordable DVD player is not present on your computer. Hope that helps.
Guest paulrich Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Thanks for that. The bizzare thing about it is when you open up any of these prgrammes, the DVD automatically plays in a preview window, and each one plays with sound. Its when you go to encode the DVD that the problem occurs. Very strange.
Guest paulrich Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Got it all sorted folks. Did a bit more searching on the net and found DivX. What a superb little prgramme. Just find the file you want, drag and drop it into the converter and thats it? Smashin.
