Guest BOODVD Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 after owning my little sagem x5 for about 5years i thought time for a new phone it had been a trusty servant not a scratch on it.,i decided to buy a spv550 2 weeks ago on pay as you go orange.i havent even taken the plastic cover of the screen yet when last night i picked it up with my keys and crack.theres now a crack diagonally across the plastic covering fortunately no damage to actual screen.this morning wife went into orange shop and basically told to go away.she did get given a number for some euro phone fixing company, phoned them told me it will be 50 pounds to replace plastic, i have initially declined this.anyone please give me advice wat to do next, will i look up yellow pages to find an independent fixer or has anyone else had this problem i am really dismayed :c
Guest Confucious Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 What a bugger! Sorry to hear that. The number you have been given will be for HTC Europe who make the phone and AFAIK are the only people who can fix it as they have the orriginal parts. Your only other option is to buy a dummy phone off eBay and do it yourself, the only one I can find is http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ORANGE-SPV-C550-DUMM...1QQcmdZViewItem It will invalidate your warranty and you have to be careful with the seal so it's up to you. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
Guest Disco Stu Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 I've never needed to try them out myself, but Carphone Warehouse run the HTC-approved repair shops in this country. Give them a ring and see what they can come up with.
