Guest RazorD Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Coolsmartphone have an article reporting on their talks with O2 today... As well as talking about the XDA SP and XDA Exec, it states o2 will start selling the Samsung i300 in October for around £79.99. We've had a chat with the nice people at o2 today and they've slipped a few press releases our way. First of all we have news on the XDA SP, which was advertised previously as the "XPhone II". It's a sweet looking Smartphone with similar specs to the C500. On its' heels is the Press Release of the highly anticipated XDA Exec with some lovely high-quality photos. But wait - just to add to the excitement comes news of the Samsung i300, pictured right. It's going to be exclusive to o2 and will begins selling in October for around £79.99. The 3Gb internal hard drive is capable of storing up to 1000 music files and features scroll-wheel navigation, enabling you to search tracks with ease You can also enjoy 3D sound through its stereo speakers and download music online. Guest shadamehr Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 When the Samsung i300 comes to O2 uk in October (according to the press blurb), it will finally be O2's first Windows SmartPhone (in the Uk folks) And when this happens, O2 will finally have to support the full SmartPhone WAP, GPRS, and Picture Messaging settings. Thus allowing Orange and T-Mobile users to get phones from these providers cheap or free, unlock them, and finally get them to work fully on O2, without having to wade through the GPRS Settings Repository thread, manually configure, and still have issues, like I had to for years with my E200 and C500... The sooner the better, as I am due TWO free Orange upgrades in October, so a C550 might be worthy of a spare handset. I see O2 UK also list the nokia 6111 as coming October, as well as the Moto Pebl. But the best news for me? The Nokia N70 coming October. (An updated 6680 3G phone, but now with full 2 Megapixel camera and landscape shoot mode and camera button). And Orange are still plodding along with the newest SmartPhones with a 1.2 megapixel, grainy camera with no flash... Mmmm - decisions, decisions.
Guest agent.m Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Yeah i hope I had something to do with o2 supporting smartphones in Uk. I was part of a focus group for o2 and was raving about my SDA etc :o
Guest markdotpeters5 Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 Hehe, good lad :o About time the big 'O' had some serious smartphone competition.
Guest Hoff Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 I phoned the o2 upgrade line over the weekend - they told me the release date should be 30th October.
