Guest Dade Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 As some of you may know, I have reviewed JavoEdge products in the past. I’m something of a fan of theirs and have been continually impressed with the quality of their wears. Having recently acquired a PSP (or Two) it’s immediately obvious that the PSP needs some protection that ultra shiny finish shows all the finger marks and is just begging to the scratched. I first tried one of the cheap ones that some of the high street retailers are selling at the moment. I picked up one for £7 from a store round the corner and sat the PSP on the desk and gave the screen a good clean. I peeled the screen guard from its backing and tried to apply it, I ended up with bubbles everywhere. I’ve fitted screen protectors to a number of devices before and never had this much trouble! After messing with it for a few minutes I decided it would be better to remove it and start again. Big mistake, ended up stuck to itself. The adhesive was too strong to sort it out. I had to throw it away. The further annoyance was that it had left a residue on the screen. So I decided to look around the web to see what else there was. I hadn’t realised that JavoEdge were making products for the PSP. So I got myself an antiglare JavoScreen as well as one of the new Ultra Clear JavoScreens, one for each PSP. Delivery was very quick and as with other JavoScreens that I’ve had before everything you need is in the pack. You get a screen cleaning cloth which is made of a really soft material and a card to help apply the protector, plus obviously the screen itself. The first thing you need to do is give the screen a good clean, make sure you get rid of all the finger prints and dust, else you will end up trapping this under the screen protector. Next you peel the backing off the film and apply it to the screen. The thing I particularly liked about this screen protector is that not only does it cover the LCD area but also the area the areas around the D-pad and the buttons. The size is perfect which helps you get the thing in the right place and it’s very easy to remove or reposition if you get it wrong. Mine went on perfect first time, no bubbles and perfectly straight. One of the JAVOScreen’s has an anti-glare surface which makes a huge difference to the screen visibility, especially when you are using it outside on a bright day or as I do sitting on the train. The anti-glare coating does cause a slight blurring of the screen but its hard to notice. I fitted the Ultra Clear JAVOScreen to my other PSP, again no fuss, no bubbles, it just works. I personally prefer the anti-glare to the Ultra Clear but this is down to personal preference. This screen protector differs from others on the market in that it does not use a sticky adhesive to fix it to the screen but rather a static coating. This means that you can remove the protector and put it on another device (if you get it replaced for example) of you can take it off and actually wash it! Also it wont leave any nasty residue on your screen if you do decide to take it off. If you want to get a good quality screen protector to protect your PSP investment then look no further than JAVOScreen! You can find the full PSP Product list here.
Guest bills1974 Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 If you want a serious PSP protector, not just for the screen, but an entire case, the Logitech one is awesome. I've had one for a couple months now and never take my PSP out of the case when playing. The biggest downside is it's fairly heavy. It probably doubles the weight of the PSP, but having bigger hands, I've found that it makes the PSP more comfortable to hold when playing. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products...CONTENTID=10181
Guest Dade Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Im getting one of these too but I still would want to protect the screen, plus with the Anti-glare it makes the visitility much better.
Guest inspectorgadjet Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 These look really good. I've used JavoEdge before for my PDAs, and they are good. I've just ordered some. :o
Guest inspectorgadjet Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 ARGH!!!! Talk about frustration! Got my screen protectors this morning. I ordered a three pack as I have somehow managed to acquire another PSP and figured it would be good to have protectors for both. I usually only use JavoEdge for my PDA as I know they're good and haven't had any problems installing before. But these PSP protectors nearly drove me mad. It took me nearly two hours to get the thing on reasonably ok. I ended up using all three protectors on one PSP cos they just weren't working too well and I ended up ruining the first two. First of all, the button holes on mine are only averagely in the right places. If I got the holes lined up one side, the others would end up way off. The other problem with my ones were the right hand side of all three protectors had a tiny kink in it at the point where it's narrowest, and it wouldn't stick down on any of them. I've eventually managed to get my third one on reasonably ok, but I am not happy. I have the kink on the right that won't stick down, and probably because I had to try removing and reapplying a few times, the right hand side is not sticking so well either. It keeps lifting off again. Maybe I'm just a big old klutz, but these really seem like more work than they're worth. As much as I like the idea of the screen protector covering the whole front of the PSP, I am seriously contemplating just buying another two cheap ones from Game as I had no problem installing mine first time before, and I do have the Logitech hard case anyway, so the rest of the PSP should be reasonably safe.

Im really surprised that you had a problem with them. I applied one of the anti-glare protectors to one PSP and the Crystal Clear to the other. Both went on first time. One tip is to take the top off the analog stick when you do it.
