Guest Palindrome Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 (edited) Every time I soft reset my M500 I get the Orange Plus shortcut springing back into existence in my program menu. Being a person that gets fuzzy feelings when the program menu is all tidy and nice-looking, I suffer no errant shortcuts lightly! [-( Is there a way of permanently deleting the wasp in my jam so it shall never return? I was hoping that the hard/soft reset trick would have sorted it out. Edited September 13, 2005 by Palindrome
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 I was hoping that the hard/soft reset trick would have sorted it out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Doesn't it? I thought it would if you don't reinstall the Orange rubbish (I think this stuff would probably be in Action Engine CABs)
Guest Palindrome Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 The only thing I installed from the Extended Rom was the GPRS cabs a few days ago. The shortcut was hounding me before I did this though. Perhaps I wasn't quick enough when soft reseting after the hard reset?
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 On mine (and I assume all M500s) there was a count down of 3 seconds I think. I get the stylus ready and do a Soft Reset as soon as the Today screen appears after setting the time zone
Guest Palindrome Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 OK, I'll keep that in mind for next time I hard reset the M500. This topic may be reappearing near the top of the topic list in a month or two.
Guest sporkguy Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 I have the same thing, bigstorage rom installed, no other Orange software except for gprs disconnect and the mms settings, and low and behold, that blasted Orange Plus simcard icon
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 16, 2005 Report Posted September 16, 2005 Well it seems to be created by the STK.lnk (SIM Tool Kit) in \Windows\Startup, but when I moved the shortcut my phone got stuck in a Soft Reset loop (gawd bless PocketPlus v3 with it's Safe Mode!) I put the .lnk back and the phone's happy again, but I don't know what caused the reset loop... [uninformed guessing]Perhaps part of the phone registering on the network uses the STK? [/uninformed guessing]
