Remote control Smartphone

i am in the process of making an "all in one" remote control app for SPV's

I've currently made a WMP Remote app which allows you to control WMP on your PC from your SPV using wireless/bluetooth/gprs/usb cable :o

it's not easy to just "convert" one format to another...

also remember the infrared is not strong in general.. so sitting for more than 3 meters away from the destination device would not be enough to send a signal to control it! :(

SPV's, apperently, have a lower signal strength in IR

I just saw my m8s new Sony erricson the 2mp cam one..

You can control any part of windows through it and make custom scripts to contol various apps..

You have to install this app on the pc and a script app thingy on the phone

If your remote contol app can be like this then it would be great.

I forgot the name of the pc softwaer but it's on sourceforge and works with sony BT phones.

OK but can you make controller scripts and download a sort of contoller theme to the phone to make it look like a remote ( just a little bit?)

I frankly H8 WMP, and favour WMP classic or winamp. Being able to get the phone to send custom key presses through bt would be better because i hate being forced to use a software player I don't like. I can't stress how much I don't like WMP but would like the ability to BT control 'other' apps.

I haven't got a BT dongle BTW because I have no need for one Yet...

Maybe I'll wait for a wifi phone then get a wifi dongle instead.

Ooohh brain storm.. How about voice comands through BT? Open browser.. etc...err I guess someone has done that already..

Probably floAts Mobile Agent? It's quite cool. Uses a serial protocol with SE phones to display menus on the phone screen and activate other functions with no apps actually installed on the phone. It then provides Windows scripting interfaces to allow scripts to interact with the phone. End users can then write scripts and DLLs to plug in to the system.

e.g. The script could send a menu containing a list of media players to the phone. The user then picks one on the phone and the script starts the mediaplayer and sends a list of known mp3s to the phone etc.

I don't think it would be possible to produce menus etc. on the phone without an application running, but an application like this allowing plugins and scripts to be written on the PC while performing actions and accepting in put from the phone would be very cool.

I guess like a more developed version of the SOTI Phone Controller Enterprise command line, or a version of AutoSmartphone that could accept commands sent from the PC rather than a local script and send back button presses.

For example, floAts has scripts to control a variety of media players, mouse control, to act as a security camera (taking a picture and copying it to the PC at regular intervals) etc.

The users then decided on a standard script format that would allow multiple scripts to co-exist (registering each script), as people wanted to be able to control the mouse and quickly control media players, for example.

floAts also has a lot of other features, but the scripting is the functionality that I miss from my old SE T610. I'm sure that someone could come up with something similar for the Smartphone *smiles hopefully*

hehe

well soon you will b able to control almost anything from the app i am making but no scripting of course, just a proper app.

and I can't stress how much I LOVE WMP :o lol

I am working on an app to control your TV via IR from the SPV... hopefully that will work out

Only applications that you have to test with, though.

The scripting let people write their own application support for whatever obscure apps they wanted and add fun features (if they wanted) like locking the PC when the phone went out of bluetooth range. People wrote scripts to let you use various messengers from your phone (when mobile messengers weren't available). This still has advantages over AgileMessenger etc. even today. (e.g. logging conversations on your PC, sending files that are on your PC, etc.).

Maybe I'll look into it myself one day. Too busy developing non-mobile apps at the moment!

I'll enjoy using WMPRemote in the mean time :o

hehe thanks mate :o

I am currently developing (starting to) a remote desktop but for mobile's :( (Windows Powered Mobile devices)

soon you will be able to control other stuff on the computer, like WMP. Really it's just a "play file" thing, nothing fancy.

Version 3 is almost released... watch this space
