miniSD frustration

Hi all,

I noticed the new crop of Windows Smart Phones from HTC are moving to miniSD instead of SD. What a pain, I know it takes up less space, but SD is so universally available it's a real pain to not have compatiable cards.

My camera is SD and I would really love to be able to plug the SD card straight into my mobile to view the photos.

I'm looking at the new K-Jam when it's released that has a externally accessible miniSD slot, does anyone know of a adapter that would go into the miniSD slot and stick out allowing you to plug SD cards (or other types as well) and use them.

This is sort of the reverse of the standard miniSD into SD slot adapter included with miniSD cards.

I guess I could throw away my SD card and use a miniSD in the camera with an adapter, but I bought a 1GIG Ultra SD card and really don't want to change it.

Any thoughts and opinions on this topic?

When I bought my MiniSD card it came with a neat little adaptor which transformed it into an SD card. Works great in cameras, and I used it in fact when I was abroad earlier this year.

My adaptor does not work on my laptop card reader :o

getting a Sandisk one to see it that helps.

As I said I'm aware of the miniDS to SD adapters, I want to go the other way. An adapter that allows me to use SD cards in a miniSD slot. Support for other card types would also be good (Compact Flash). I'm aware ofcourse that this would have to protrude from the phone housing as the other card types are physically larger.

Smaller is the way everything is going :o

Also adaptors would be impossible to use unless you had a flying lead for the C500 as an example as the card sits under the battery.

It is annoying thou. I borrow my friends $1000 camera everynow and again which uses Compact Flash. Would be good to be able to view these painlessly on a large PAD screen than the small one on the camera.

I guess the most likely solution is to buy a phone/pda that supports USB Host and use a card reader.

some phones like my motorola MPx200 can read many types of cards: SD, miniSD, MMC etc ;)

MPX200 can only read miniSD whens its been adpated to SD via the adapter... it cannot nativley read miniSD.

MPX200 only nativley suuports MMC and SD standards, nothing else.

Trying to put a miniSD without the adapter into the SD slot of your mpx200 is asking for trouble. It might get stuck in there 'cause it's so small.
