Guest Disco Stu Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Do you mean an easier way than ActiveSync ? Not that I know of. As for BT transfer, why not get the new version of Smart Explorer anyway ? :o

Guest MiG:uK Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 how about u copy all contancts onto ure sim if already not done so, whack ure sim in ure new c550, and go to sim manager and copy em off. Done.
Guest JBW Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 how about u copy all contancts onto ure sim if already not done so, whack ure sim in ure new c550, and go to sim manager and copy em off. Well, if you use a lot of the outlook contact fields then you are going to lose data transfering the contacts to sim.
Guest Disco Stu Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Okay, before the ActiveSync experts come by - hello Confucious ? - the first thing you need to remember is that you can only sync one Smartphone at any one time. If you haven't successfully synced your C500 I would delete any partnership that shows up under File, Delete Partnership in AS. Uninstall ActiveSync and reinstall the download of 3.8 from MSDN. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en Naturally you'll be running Outlook 2002 or later and not Outlook Express or other. When you reinstall AS follow the instructions to the letter. Don't connect phone until prompted. Select options as appropriate. Hopefully C500 will be synced successfully and your master database will be Outlook on your PC. Now you will need to delete the C500 partnership. When you first connect the C550 you will be effectively creating a new Smartphone partnership with your PC. You will be replacing what is on the phone with what is on your PC. Dave, I keep thinking that you know all this already but it's worth going over the basics before the troubleshooters get called in :o
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express? When you first sync your phopne you get asked if you want to sync contacts. If at the time you selected no you can still fix it in Activsync by selecting Tools/Options
Guest Confucious Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 (edited) Start->ActiveSync->Menu->1 Options->3 Server Setings Make sure none of the check boxes in the first 3 items for Sync with a server is checked. And you mention OE in a previous post - you are using Outlook not Outlook Express like Disco Stu said? Let us know if this fixes the problem, if not I'm sure we will be able to sort it. [Edit]Second Option - Just tried using Orange Backup on my C500 and restoring to my C550 and it seems to have worked fine, if you don't want to use Outlook this might be for you![/Edit] Edited September 15, 2005 by Confucious
Guest selwin Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Cant you beam your contacts from the c500 to the c550? When I got my C500 I was able to send my contacts from my T610i via infared.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 You can beam contact in Contacts\Menu \Beam but it would take ages to do for every single contact on your list. Activsync is really the best method for doing this.
