My 250mb SD card in the M500 is currently showing 164.40 mb used, 78.73mb free.

Yet, whenever i try to add MP3's/Wav files it says "there is not enough free space"

i can't understand what is happening here.

can anyone shed any light?

I've copied the Storage Card directory to my PC and it is is reported as being 156mb in size.

I'm soo confused! :?:

Could be just junk left behind by files you've previously deleted.

Do you use a card reader ?

Transfer the contents of the storage card to your PC then reformat the card.

You should get the missing bytes back.

Thanks, but....

I have no card reader, have just tried formatting the card using CNetX flash format - all works fine, BUT when i try to copy my info back onto card it tells me there's no room left even before its copied back all the files i backed up this morning!

i can't get me head round it.

Now cards reading at 157mb used, 83.84mb free (but can't copy anything to the space!)

seems i can fill the lost MB's by recording sound into its space, but cannot copy files into the space.

even more confused!

Should i be formatting to Fat 16 or Fat 32? and any idea of cluster sizes? (Fat16 : 4,8,16,32kb or fat32 1,2kb?)

will this affect it?

cant see how it would, not to this extent anyway!

My SD card is Fat32 with the default cluster size.

Have you tried another SD card to see if you have a similar problem?

i would have thought fat32 with defaults as well but perhaps you have a dodgey card. have you been able to fill the cars past this level in the past? there isnt a lock switch on the side of the card thats stopping you writing more data is there?

just a few ideas...

ideally what you want is to properly format it through a card reader on a full format!!!

it may take time but should solve the problem!
