Guest sgeary Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Im waiting for the HTC Wizard to come out, one of the main reasons is for wifi, i think its got so much potential!! The problem is im not sure what programs are out that will actually compliment wifi. For example a remote control for media player or program to actually control your whole pc/server from your pocket pc over wifi. Im not sure if these types of programs actually exsist!! We all know the exsisting programs that have been around for ages on all our old smartphone/pocket pcs This is a new techmologhy that has only just come out and thougt it would be a nice idea if we had somewhere to list all the programs and what they do that will actually utilise wifi on our phones Good idea? If so then please post any info you know Thanks
Guest fraser Posted September 16, 2005 Report Posted September 16, 2005 Yes, remote controls work, I'm presently working on the mother of them all, but it's a while away from completion! :o As for existing stuff, I use a Winamp plugin called "browseamp". It gives you web control over Winamp, and there are skins available that work best in the PPC web browser. Other WiFi coolness is streaming media, quick web surfing (huge improvement over GPRS), VoIP (Skype). Plus, you can have news tickers etc without worrying about datacharges. VNC is good for remote desktop stuff as well. I've got a Blue Angel myself, and the WiFi on it makes it a killer toy. Had a BBQ couple of weeks back, the guests were well impressed that I could put on music from the garden.
