c500 battery problems

Hey guys, ok just gotta say quickly, although i havnt posted much/atall, these forums are great! every and any problem iv had with my spv iv managed to solve (apart from this one! :o).

Ok the problem. Me being me, i accidently (well, forgot to charge) let my c500 battery drain right down, to the point it wouldnt power up. I had lost the charger (mains charger) and the USB one wont work unless the fone is powered on (sods law huh?). I have now got a new charger, and iv had it plugged in for a good 2 weeks, and it still refuses to power up, be it plugged into the mains or otherwise. I have tried doing a hard reset, tried booting to the canary screen, neither work.

Here's the intresting parts: When i first plug the charger in, the led shows red for about 1min, it then goes blank and goes orange... then quickly to green. if i try to power on at that stage, it boots up but after about 30secs it turns off and the led goes red. Iv tried leaving the battery out for like a min but doesnt make any different.

Any ideas anyone? (i also did this with my e200's, but when that happened i got my c500 so i didnt bother fixing it).

I relise that buying a new battery would prob solve it... im just short of cash and wondered if anyone has had any problems like this before.

Cheers!!!

Adi

Can you measure any voltage accross the battery terminals? Should be 3.7 volts.

It sounds like a duff battery to me.

interesting you saying that you cannot charge via usb unless the phone is turned on because it's the other way around!

if you connect the phone via usb (assuming activesync is installed with smartphone drivers) and the phone is off, it should charge! mines does anyway for both my C500's

but yes.. agreed, sounds like a duff batt! you can pick one up pretty cheap! :o

ok thanks, i'll try the USB thing last nite, but i think it may be because the batt is being weird?

fluffcat1 i'll check that out tonight and get back to ya. If the voltage is fine, what would you suggest?

And i think it's heading to gettin a new batt! :S

Having the battery fully discharged will damage it but it's unusual to kill it that quickly.
