Guest jimx19 Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 New here, but had my SPV a couple of months... overall a good phone but like everyone here find the bugs real annoying... I like to carry my SPV around in my pocket (can't be arsed with the leather pouch!), and now my pocket fluff, not content with finding its way into my belly button has got behind the screen of my SPV!! - How do I open it up to remove this dust/fluff from the screen?
Guest Gorskar Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Erm I think its possible to disasemble the phone to remove the dust, although not somehting I would want to try if avoidable. http://www.bornsloppy.co.uk/dust.htm might help.
Guest DJHope Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Try blowing some compressed air through the speaker socket, dismantling it or sending it back to orange, if you get it fixed try putting scelotape over the speaker hole. DJ Hope
Guest dj simonz Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 lol, The dust doesn't so much get into the screen through the Speaker hole, coz I kinda opened an spv up and there is a seal between the speaker hole and the screen to prevent stuff like dust. The dust actually gets into the phone thru the keypad area noticably the gaps between the two buttons nearest to the screen The fone can be prized out by initally taking out a rubber slit thing on the back of the fone after you have taken out the battery, then u will see 2 grey clips which u have to prize open...the whole fone aint screwed on, its just snapped together so u risk damaging the body of ur fone if u were to prize it open, however u can clean the inside of the fone this way as the screen is easily accessible afterwards.
Guest yatpeak Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I'm hoping to keep mine dust free for as long as possible, how long will it last, I wonder?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 DJHope: I had the same idea about compressed air. Found an aerasole (sp) can of it at work today though and its held at a pretty damn high pressure, not sure how comfortable i'd be blowing that near my earpiece ;) However, it was mentioned on another thread the dust gets in through the keypad, so maybe i'll give that a blast, pun intended.
Guest Thurstan Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Some get dust, some don't. I've had three SPVs.. the first one was fine, the second one was full of dust within a week, the thrd, touch wood, seems to be fine. This one, however, I have been careful to keep in the plastic case provided when I keep it in my pocket or whatever.
