Guest BadWolf1983 Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Hi folks, so this is my first topic / first post, of many I hope, forum is a great source of info so far. I was just wondering if peeps could tell me the following about updating the rom on my Orange SPV C500 to the latest 4.2.1 version 1 - If I have my apps on the MiniSD do I just need to backup my startmenu shortcuts in order to avoid reinstalling 2 - I know I will lose all of my settings doing this upgrade, is there a way to basically backup the lot? 3 - Is it worth upgrading?!! Thanks Stu Phone History : Nokia 5110, Siemens C35i, Nokia 6110, Siemens C45, Nokia 8310, Nokia 6610, Sony Ericsson T610, 3 phones on Three, what a waste of a year, Sony Ericsson Z1010 on Orange 3G, Orange SPV C500 (with 3G sim, wow it works!)
Guest Disco Stu Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Welcome to the forum :o 1. Many members use this method, though you may lose any registry entries that the software installer created. 2. You could check out Sprite Backup - click here 3. Only of you're a big fan of Windows Media Player v10
Guest BadWolf1983 Posted September 16, 2005 Report Posted September 16, 2005 Thanks DiscoStu Not really a huge WMP fan, I have my Archos AV420 for all my music and video needs. So I'm tempted to just leave my C500 as is for now. I spent a while getting the software installed and getting BT ActiveSync working :-D Stu
Guest robster30 Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 Hi, Not sure about how/whether to back up, but the main positive of doing the upgrade is windows media player 10, and the ability to use your MP3's as ringtone's which is the bit i like
