Backlight timeout whilst charging

Hi,

my phone (SDA music) has just decided to change its backlight timeout settings. It always used to have a permanent light on the screen when it was plugged into power (ie in my usb desk cradle. Now it turns off the main light after 5 seconds or so leaving a slighlty less bright light (but still visible) and after abnother 10 the screen is black. I much preffered it with permanent backlight as i could always see the time, message count etc without the need to press any buttons and activate the light.

Having scoured the manual there are very few mwntions of backlight which are not what im looking for. I have looked in the settings\power mgt section and altered the backlight timeout setting there but this seems to have no effect on the properties of the backlight even in general use whilst on battery anymore, let alone whilst charging/plugged in! This is another issue.....one that is also very frustrating as whilst reading texts\looking at calendar etc the light will dim & i have to move the stick to light it up again :o

Anyone else ever had this or know if i am looking in the wrong place for backlight whilst charging settings? Or know why my normal backlight setting dont have any effect when changed (to say 60 seconds yet screen still dims after 5)? I have recently been using tomtom mobile and have noticed this since then. However whilst using tomtom the light is constant. I have tried reatarting the phone etc but to no avail.
