FYI: Registry Sounds Script

Hey, i wondered how you edit the way ringtones ring/vibrate etc.. and also how to set an mp3 as a ringtone...

Well i came across this information, so i thought id share it with you guys if you didnt know already, i tried searching on here.. the search returned nothing relevant to this so....

The location is..

Registry > HKCU > ControlPanel > Sounds > #The type of sound#

Edit the value 'Script'

a = allow repeat

f = backlight On (f1)

v = vibrate On (v0,v1,v2) the number changes the vibrate length

p = play Sound/Vibrate On (if v has been set)

w = wait/delay (w1 - wait 1 sec)

r = repeat

so for example..

af1v0pw3r

This makes your tone...

Allow repeat, turn on the backlight, set short vibrate, play tone and vibrate, wait for 3 seconds, then repeat.

If you want to use an MP3 as a ringtone do the following... again the registry

or infact for any tone that the phone uses, you could even have funky DTMF tones or Callwaiting tone.

Registry > HKCU > ControlPanel > Sounds > Ringtone0

Edit the value 'Sound'

Change this to the location of your Mp3 file...

eg. \Storage Card\My Ringtones\mytone.mp3

NOTE: Once modifying your tones like this do not make any changes to the main sounds menu.

Because the main menus dont support mp3's it will reset your tones.

Good luck

Nice simple guide :o Bits of this are on the site already but still nicely laid out.

I'll move this later to the Articles section.

Thanks
