Download and install PHM Registry Editor from here (for m500 you have to install the CAB, not ActiveSync):

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox

- Create new DWORD key

- Name "SMSDeliveryNotify"

- Value "1"

- Base Decimal

Hope that helps some people - took me ages of research to find out!
