does it charge you extra if you use the internet on your phone through the USB of your PC? i mean not on GPRS but from home?

If you're using passthrough in activesync then you are only charged as per your PCs net connection. Make sure your settings are right though - you don't want to accidentally use GPRS when you think you aren't!

I had to get a sim update from orange to use passthrough.

Strange as passthrough is not using the SIM in any way.

no, but a sim update can configure settings / enable options on the phone though.
