Default filter for contacts

My contacts are divided into several categories. When I open the contacts app all categories are displayed. Is there any way I can set the default category that the program opens with instead of all of them.

Ideally I would only sync one category to my pda but unlike the option for my smartphone there is no option in active sync to do this for the ppc.
