Guest alan1302 Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 Hiya, Does anyone know how to change the format the phone saves its videos in so that I can edit them and use them in a video editing program? I can't even get them to play on my media player! Alan
Guest Tech Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 if you cant get them to play it will be to do with the codecs of that video format. have you tried to see if Windows Media Encoder, for the PC, can open/read and convert the files?
Guest alan1302 Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 Hiya, I have just tried that software but no joy with it. I can get the files to play in Windows media player now. It comes up with an error message saying they are not supported but if you hit ok they play ok. Alan
Guest martin Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 You might find it better to capture video in M-JPEG and PCM audio. Load camera application Menu - Options - Modes Capture Mode=Video Encoder=Motion-JPEG AVI Resolution=176x144 Most PC applications should be able to handle this audio/video coding :o Encoders MPEG-4 and H.263 use AMR audio which is often unsupported in applications.
Guest mossywell Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 (edited) In all the time I've had my phone, I never noticed you could change the capture format. :o However, to the OP, if you have video already taken in MP4 format, the only way I've found to convert it (and believe me, I've tried dozens most of which lose the audio) is using QuickTime Pro which allow conversion to AVI (though I forget which AVI codec, if any). EDIT: When converting, you get to choose the video codec from a list (or select none for no compression) and the audio format as well. Edited September 21, 2005 by mossywell
