MDA compact won't see memory card

I am having a problem with my MDA compact not being able to see my SD card. I have a mini SD card that I used to use in my C500 (so I know it works) which I have now out into my MDA compact, using the full size SD card adaptor. I know the SD card slot works on the MDA as it reads my WiFi card okay. My only thoughts are that the SD adaptor isn't working properly (I've not used it before) but I don't really see how something so simple can not work - all the points seem to line up okay.

Anyone got any ideas or has anyone had a similar problem with mini SD and adaptors? :??: :??:
