Any one got any ideas?
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 Are you sure about the folder names? I don't know about the newer smartphones, but my M500 (PocketPC with WM2003SE) creates folders like 05081400001 The folder names are based on the date and "picture taking session", so that folder name means I took those photos on the 14th August 05, and it was the first batch of pictures I took that day The burning question is whether there's any way to control this - but the answer to date is... "No", you can only control where the pictures go, not the folder naming scheme
Guest pd.ryder Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 Chucky's right. I haven't been able to work around it either though, and I do find it mildly annoying. It makes hard work of finding the particular pics or vids I'm looking for because I can never remember the exact date I took 'em on :o I find a weekly 'housekeeping' routine a worthwhile exercise when I stuff all the pics and vids into /Storage Card/Photos and /Storage Card/Videos folders. (That makes replaying the vids on TCPMP a doddle too) Then I delete all the 05092100001 etc folders, just to tidy everything up. Smartphones, eh? :(

Smartphones, eh? :( <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you go into multimedia album it defaultly selects the my photos folder (which will show all the photos taken in the date named sub folders). From there you can find your desired photo and copy or move it or find the path to it (ie date taken) by selecting properties from the menu. But i agree, a bit of a hassle. :|
Guest LSmith4285 Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 AFAIK I think everytime the camera application is opened it creates a new folder so the first time you open it its 05081400001 then 05081400002. This should be in the default options to change it back to standard. Wonder if WM5 will fix this
Guest pd.ryder Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 (edited) LSmith4285 - If you go into multimedia album it defaultly selects the my photos folder (which will show all the photos taken in the date named sub folders). Multimedia Album seems to remember the last folder opened, so it always goes there when opened. A teensy bit of a faf if it has been used by another app, such as selecting bits to add to a Multimedia Message. I'd never even thought of trying to select the parent folder  Edited September 21, 2005 by pd.ryder
Guest LSmith4285 Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 Yeah I know media album does this but I use ClearVue Image which doesn't :o
Guest chedmaster Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 its when you get it on the PC that its a pain, trying to find the photo and copying all photos onto PC at once without endless folders. very annoying.

I posted an article about this on my blog: http://www.gpcarreon.com/?p=162
Guest jim.mason Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 Try this http://www.modaco.com/Choose_where_to_save...es-t225068.html. Install this cab on your magician and select storage card and it will save all photos in "My Documents\My Pictures" without any additional dated folders appearing. Jim

Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 It is a special section on MoDaCo where we get to feature cool new tweaks for the Smartphone. Stands for 'Tweak of the Week' http://www.modaco.com/Features-f143.html ;)
Guest BenVic Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 I came on the forum to find out the very same info. Any one got any ideas? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Digital cameras do this as well - as already mentioned it is based upon time/date and I think also helps prevent overwriting of images should the image counter reset itself?
Guest w411y Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 Ive installed the cab from GPC's Blog on to my c550 and works a treat. However it doesnt sort it out for videos but i dont doubt that he will do that soon ;)
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 w411y tested the CAB for me and I'm glad it works a treat. Thanks so much w4lly. ;) I really don't know why video dumping won't work on your phone. I tried it just minutes ago and it works. Static and moving pictures share the same registry entry on the phone: 'EnableDateFolder'.
