Guest johar13 Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Hi i recently got a vodafone VPA. I was trying to set my own ringtone which worked at first when i copied an mp3 to the rings folder. Then to save space i tried to play the ringtone from my storage card using PPCprofilespro or something like that where i changed the rintone location to storage card. This worked at first but when the device was off it would play windows default as the ringtone. Then i tried to change it back to working off the phones memory however it kept playing windows default and showing the mp3 as the ringtone in settings. Even when i changed the ringtone to another one that came with the phone it played windows default. I then performed a restore to factory settings but it kept playing windows default. After this i tried to edit the registry but now it doesnt play any ringtone when someone rings. When you preview the ringtone they work fine. Someone please help i am tearing my hair out!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest inspectorgadjet Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 If I'm not mistaken, PPCProfiles Pro allows you to set the ringtones based on the profile you choose. Do you think that maybe you are using a profile that doesn't have a ringtone assigned?
Guest Pondrew Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Moved to Pocket PC Help and Advice. First of all is to undo the damage that prevented any tone ringing. You could either put the registry back to how it was or alternatively do a hard reset again. Secondly I'd ensure you kept the ringtone as short as possible and encoded to make it as small as possible. That way you can leave it on the device rather then on the storage card as I suspect this is the problem. Hopefully someone else has more experience trying to use mp3s as ringtones off the storage card and can tell you where you're going wrong.
