I think cab files work differently though.

What does that mean?
Guest Disco Stu Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 You need to application unlock your phone first. The easiest way is to use the Orange OTA service - have a look at the 'Official Decert etc' thread pinned at the top of this section. The 'comdefq' link is the one you want. Otherwise you can use Pzee's guide which is also pinned up there. Basically, phone operators put a software lock on the phones to stop you installing dodgy third-party software. It is easy to remove though and most members here will do it and not get any problems. :o

Guest Hawko Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Cool, thanks found the link, entered the info and the message has come up saying the security cert has been disabled Should I restart the phone <{POST_SNAPBACK}> you prob dont need to restart it to install uncert progs now, but it wont hurt to rest the phone if you like. now you have it unlocked, you can do plenty!! enjoy! :o
Guest Disco Stu Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Nope, it's not necessary. As Hawko suggests though it is always a good idea to restart your phone at least once a day just to clean up the memory. I would also restart after installing new software to make sure everything is bedded in correctly.
