Guest dhess Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Last night was the first night after my wife and I brought our baby son back from the hospital. He's our first kid, and I went to bed exhausted-- I forgot to plug my phone into the computer to charge. This morning, the battery is completely dead. I tried to turn it on, the splash screen appeared, then disappeared. The phone is now so dead that it won't even show a spalsh screen. The question: I've plugged the phone into the USB to charge. I am seeing no lights blinking- the phone does not appear to be charging. It still won't turn on, even for a second. Is my battery dead? Can you literally drain your battery so much that it will refuse to charge? Also, shouldn't my phone work if I plug it in and take the battery out? It won't even turn on.
Guest dhess Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Nevermind, tried the wallcharger instead, and it works. I don't know why they charge differently, but this took care of the problem.
Guest Pondrew Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Yes, if a battery is totally discharged the lower voltage the USB sync cable delivers isn't enough to begin charging again. I had the same thing with my E200 and thought it was dead until I plugged it into a wallcharger. Then it charged again no problem.
Guest mupwangle Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 It is possible that to use USB (since it uses a driver) that if there isn't enough power to communicate with the PC then it won't work. I couldn't get it to charge when activesync wasn't installed on my works computer so that may well be plausible. I may, however, be talking mince. ;-)

After all, wasn't it suggested the reason many carkits didn't work with the C500 was because they didn't transmit the right signal to start the device charging?
