Guest inspectorgadjet Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 I just got an i-Mate JasJar this morning, and I've been playing around with it and trying things out. It's really brilliant and I am glad I got it. It's only slightly bigger than my MDA III and that doesn't make much difference to me at all. I've also discovered what I think might be an incorrect specification...everywhere that I've specs, they say it has a 1.3 megapixel camera. When I go into the settings though, it lets you choose different sizes, and two of the options are 1M and 2M. So I figured maybe it's just their way of specifying the sizes. I tested a picture, and the size does indeed come to 1600x1280. That works out to 2,048,000 pixels = 2 megapixels. I also checked on some photography sites, and 1600x1200 is the minimum size for 2 megapixel images and 1280x960 is the minimum for 1.3 megapixel. So can anyone else confirm if I am right on this? Do we actually have 2 mega pixel cameras in our JasJars? 8)
Guest Pondrew Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Actually, from what I've read it's the clever software in the Universal that enables it to do that with a 1.3megapixel camera.
Guest inspectorgadjet Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Ahhh...that would make sense too...and here I thought I had discovered something brilliant.
Guest mack_t Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 the 2 MP is actually interpolated....so really its just the software making it 2mp....the camera itself is only 1.3 mp...
Guest Dumdidum Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 That is right... And a really bad 1.3Mpix-Camera... :-(
Guest geraintwd Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 At least it is better than the SPV C500 - that didn't even have a light. Now I can take photos in the pub w00t! :)
Guest shadamehr Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 Yup - it has an Interpolate option, same as a couple of other phones, like the NEC i-mode phones Avoid interpolation up like the plague.
