Anyways i left it flipped open and when i returned to it, it said something was missing, so i restarted the phone and it suddenly started in chinese, so i went to settings and some menus do not open and it comes up with an an error message but i do not understand chinese, so no hope there. All my apps have disappeared from the start menu, i dont know what's wrong. I think i need to boot it with a new rom but not exactly sure how to because i've never done it before, some help would be great! :roll:

you are saying that you have lost all your programs? if thats the case it sounds like a hard reset to me the phone has executed.. software/hardware failure

check for updates for your phone's ROM by visiting the manufacturer website of the phone or visit the network provider's website.

It will be more like a partial reset rather than a hard reset.

The difference being a hard reset is a manual operation while the partial reset is the phones atempt at repairing itself to a known condidtion after a registry corruption.

There are various causes of a partial reset, from low a battery causing the phone to power off while it is writing information to the registry to dodgy xml homescreens.

A good way of overcoming most software problems. You'll lose all your documents/settings that aren't in rom though.

I'd say the best bet would be to try a hard reset, especially if you haven't been able to get hold of an updated rom from Mitac (remember, the rules say no asking for illegal roms)

what do i choose for hard reset?

0=FlashROM Upgrade

1=MicroP Upgrade

2=RF Module Upgrade

3=RF Calibration

4=Memory Test

5=Reboot

Try this...

...hard reset, wipes the flash memory and restores the phone to its origional state. to hard reset. Hold down the power button and 'down' button on the d-pad.. the phone should vibrate and go into the bios.

click on memory test (option 4)

the on NAND Format (option 2) and that should hard reset the phone...
