Guest woody Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 just a question i myself am not up to alter codes ,change this ,change that ,could we have a simple ,every man,s (stupid)man,s guide to the setting,s you (clever) people talk about. Ibought my phone because my contract was up and was told this was the dogs danglie bits. I am not sure wot i have taken on ,the more i learn ,the less i know in this forum i am sure there are others like myself please think of us.
Guest amo Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I think sales advisors in shops should consider users such as yourselves and "advise" customers that there is a greater learning curve on the spv in comparison to a nokia handset. Normally I wouldn't recommend the spv to everyday kind of users as its not really suitable, just as I wouldn't recommend an xda to most people. I think more sales staff should take on this approach (at the risk of losing a bit of commision here or there).
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I'd say for genreal day-to-day use the SPV is not the hardest of phones to use, i've certainly used more difficult and tricky interfaces (motorola timeport type interface etc :/). As for your question, if you really are that uncomfortable with the suggestions here then the phone as it is will be fine. You can use the GPRS/mp3 player/e-mail etc without any major alterations to the phone. You can also buy any of the signed software on handango and run it perfectly well without any trouble. If you are more into the development side of the SmartPhone platform then you are likely to feel more at home here, but don't worry if you think you _have_ to try out all the suggestions on the site. Good luck with your new phone.

Guest AsherUK Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Umm... a model on an SD card, now there's a thought ;) ...but would that be a certified model with all functions enabled, or an uncertified model with restrictions on certain parts ? (and who decides which parts of her would be restricted ? Orange ?!!! ).
Guest woody Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 it would be an orange cert so only her fingers waggled a little
Guest HelloDave Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 600$ for Orange to certify waggling fingers? Gotta be better deals
