c550 camera knackered?

Apologies if there is already a thread on this- couldn't find it if there is...

My c550 camera will not function, displays "failed to set up camera device"

is there a fix or is it back to the shop? cheers in advance...

This rings a bell. A simple restart cleared up the problem if I remember correctly.

Before you do anything drastic I would recommend you check that you have enough phone memory for the camera application to fire up. You can use a task manager for this.

I have no idea how much program memory is needed but Storage, Programs, Flash Storage readings should be over 50% free for starters. Have you installed software to the phone memory rather than the storage card ? Is the phone memory filled up with ringtones, homescreens or messages etc ?

If those readings look healthy I would consider a hard reset. This should restore the phone to factory condition so hopefully you have backed up your Contacts etc. Instructions are pinned at the top of the HTC Hurricane section.

Returning the phone is a pain so hopefully you can clear the problem with the above.
