C500 problems - Muffled sound and dim backlight

Am hoping someone maybe able to help. I have had my C500 for about 2 months and have a couple of problems with it.

1. When phoning someone they tell me that the sound is very muffled and they cannot tell what I am saying. The person on the other end sounds fine to me. It seems to be an intermittent problem as when I have had a mate use my phone and I ring it, I can hear them fine. Is this a fault with the phone, or am I doing something wrong?

2. Yesterday when I came to use my phone the screen was very dim and nothing I did would make it brighter. I have tried turning it off and back on but is still the same brightness. Any ideas?
