M500 transcriber problem

I downloaded what I thought was a better version of transcriber from microsofts website, opened a note to test it, selected transcriber and wrote 'hello'.....nothing happened and the device locked up. No problem I thought, deleted the application using add/remove programs and left it at that.

I have since discovered that transcriber has dissapeared from the device, which is somewhat annoying as I use it alot.

Anyone know how I can reinstall the app. Or even better where on earth I find the original?

Clearly a blinding bit of user error but ......

The only solution I can think of is a hard reset. Use your stylus in the reset button (recessed hole at the bottom of the device) while pressing the standby button.

Be aware the device will be restored to factory default so you'll lose all documents and settings not on the SD card.

I had already concidered that option but was wondering if there was an alternative.

Maybe you can answer another question. I initiated a back-up after this problem arrived, if I do a hard reset and then a restore will the restore bring the problem back?
