Come back to MS Smartphone?

About 18 months ago I got myself a SPV E200. At the time I thought it was great, until I really started using the thing. I have to say that I had high expectaions for the phone, but in reality I found the camera to be pretty poor, the phone operated very slow, and it refused to talk to my Mac (sending pics via BT etc). I use a PC aswell, so not too much of an issue, just a minor annoyance.

Around 9 months into the contract I switched back to my Nokia 7650 as the speed (or lack of) of the E200 was just too much to deal with, (almost as bas as a SonyEricsson!). So, for the past 6 months or so, I've been using a Nokia 6230, which to be honest, is quite a decent little handset. However, I find myself looking for more on the move - Net, IM etc. So I'm considering a Smartphone again. I had thought about the M500, but don't think I want to carry around a PDA in my pocket, and have heard the camera to be awful.

Now, have things really got any better, or will the current batch of phones be like that horrid E200???

it all depends on the way HTC (Handset manufacturer) has made the phone.

C500 has been THE best handset ever made by HTC and dont think anything can beat it.. proove me wrong please :o

it has been a great handset, and now I have 2 on the go on 2 different contracts :P

wait for C600 - the look is like C500 and apperently is 3G and will have WM5...

E200, I still have that and thought it was fine. Yes it is slow only because it was the "best" at the time - as time goes on, things are bigger/smaller and better :(

suggestion of mine is to get a C500 and play with it if you can :lol: its also smaller and light in weight compares to E200

The C500 was a great phone but the C550 has a better camera and screen and is the one to go for IMHO.

The camera isn't as good as the 6230 but a lot better than the C500.

The C550 is a much better phone than the 6680 I am using at the moent (again IMHO) and I'd thoroughly recommend it .

What problems? Why didn't you like it? Without more info it is difficult to advise.

I saw pictures taken by C550 and they don't look 2 good ,indeed the Nokia camera is better (if you need good pictures a digital camera is way superior to a camera phone) but the phone does not worth the money ,you are buying the brand as well ,that is the problem to Nokia phones. My recommendation is a smartphone .I have a C500 wich i am very pleased of ,it is a gr8 phone ,and my next phone will b a smartphone ,i am not taking the step back in time.

IMHO wait for the C600. The C550 may have a better screen and camera, however the C550 is not primarily geared towards the business type user. You sound like you are a business user....

I got a C550 shortly after it was released, but within a week I had filed it in the drawer and reverted to my C500.

So I guess I'll just wait and see what the C600 is like. Wi-Fi woudl be a great bonus, but from different sites, I understand that it may come without. After the dreadful E200battery, I suppose Wi-Fi woudl leave me with phone for a few hours, let alone much more! lol

C600 is pretty much the same as the c550 but different case, faster USB and WM5. if you don't like the C550 I doubt if you'll like the C600 but as you haven't said what yopu don't like about the C550 it's hard to tell.

The C550 is a nice phone. It gives little grief, the camera isn't as good as a digital camera but for a phone, the quality is more than acceptable. Battery life is good, screen is orgasmic - it's just a mature C500. Which is the problem, in most peoples eyes - they all wanted WM5, and just seem to see the bad in the C550.

I sold my C500 on after a couple of weeks. I can live happily with the 550, it really is a very decent handset.

I don't like the C550 case - the silver finish has a less solid feel to it than that of the black C500 case. It is a different shape to the C500 - it is not tapered, and so IMHO feels slightly larger and clumsier than the C500. It is not as comfertable as the C500

I don't like the music player buttons - gives the phone a feeling of being gimmicky. They take up far too much space.

From what I have seen of the C600 I believe it has a tapered case ... it is black .... it doesn't have music player buttons - I think I will like it more than the C550 I have stuffed in a drawer.
