SMT5600 not turning on

I have an Audiovox SMT 5600 it works fine except occasionally it freezes. So i have to try and turn it off or remove the battery. But it will never turn back on unless its plugged into the wall or the USB, even if i shut it down properly. ive tried searching for this problem but have not come up with any answers.

Some info about the phone: AT&T unlocked using cingular sim

only non factory program installed is city time alarms

the phone charges and holds a charge fine and works great it just wont turn on if it shuts off.

Any input would be appeciated thanks.

It might be a faulty power switch. Can you turn OFF using that switch?

If not, you could try the "Clean the screen" disassembly routine (search this site) and see if you can see any switch damage. Or just try some gentle jiggling. You do know that you have to hold it in for a few seconds, right?

yea i know you have to hold the power button lol... if the phone is not plugged in no matter what i do (jiggle, tap or hold) the phone wontt urn on but as soon as i plug it in and the light turns orange showing its charging the phone turns on with no problem
