Guest gentrydog Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 My husband and I each have an new audiovox smt5600. I'm pretty good at figuring stuff out if I have instructions, but the users guide came in cd form and I can't find any answers on how to (or what I need to download before I ) personalize and/or download ringtones and homescreens. And what the heck are skins? I have already have Outlook and ActiveSync up and running, and I found a theme generator for smartphone (but dont know what to do with it now!). Can anyone help me!?!?!? gentrydog
Guest simon211175 Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 To download ringtones, you don't really need anything. Just find a music file (mp3, wav or wma type files), copy it to your phone using activesync (put it into \Storage\Application Data\Sounds) - then you can set it as your ringtone from the sounds menu on your phone. Homescreens/themes/skins are all pretty much the same thing, although the way I see it a homescreen is just the standby screen on the phone whereas a theme or skin is every screen the phone displays. Some good examples of homescreens can be found in the downloads section of this site HERE - look out for homescreens by cold_fire - he's done loads of good ones. themes or skins are harder to come by, I guess because they are more time consuming to create. DrBlow makes the best ones in my opinion, and you can find his using the same link as above. Alternatively, in a shameless plug kinda way - check mine out HERE :o To install most applications/themes etc you will probably need your phone to be "application unlocked". There are various threads on this site about how to do this, although I'm not sure if that is just for Orange based phones.
