Orange Answerphone, disable?

Is it actually possible to disable the Orange answerphone from the spv?

Whenever I cannot take a call, or have the phone off I DO NOT want it to divert to the answerphone. I tried to disable it via the divert settings, even deleting the 'divert to' number but it then re-appears when I look back in the settings. It seems to send the data to the network but doesnt actually perform what I want.

Is this Orange not allowing you to cancel the diverts, or is this a bug?

Call Orange and ask them to switch the answerphone service off ... it's an Orange service and they will switch it off on their system.

They have an Auto divert type facility to you Answerphone, if you might want to use your Answerphone at all then call them and ask that they take the Auto Divert off. If you never want to use your Answerphone then they can remove the whole thing.

If you leave the Answerphone there I think you can still place your conditional diverts to there or another no. if you want. ;)

Hi Stef

I've had the same problem as yourself, i can't turn off my answerphone.

I contacted Orange but they couldn't come up with an answer. The thing is and i'm sure you've probably had the same experience but every other phone i've ever had with whatever network i've been with has allowed me to turn my answerphone off and on at my discretion without having to go to the lengths described by Asher.

Personally i think its just another bug.

Sorry if i've not been much help but i just needed to get this annoying bug off my chest.

I know for a fact that Orange can turn off answerphone - I've requested it myself.

I find answerphone really annoying - the caller ends up paying for a call that isn't connected, you end up paying to check messages, and then paying to call them back...

Exactly those points, if I aint got my phone on, then I dont want ANY calls!

I too, believe this to be a bug on the SPV, either that or Orange will not allow you to disable it from the phone.

I'll give em a bell.

What about Program->Settings->Telephoney->Call Forwarding?

In there it's set to forward to Answerphone if not answered, busy or unavailable.

You tried removing the answerphone from those? Or have you just presumed it's a bug?

I have worked for Orange in the past and I can 100% confirm that the answerphone is an Orange service and can be removed by their helpdesk.

Ring them up and ask for it to be taken off. Don't take no for an answer, it can be done no question. If not ask for a supervisor!

I tried putting my sim-card in an unlocked nokia phone and tried to disable it from there, but it did the same thing...

So maybe its not an SPV error but rather an Orange error?

I had the same problem, phoned Orange and got told only they can switch it off, despite what you are told im the manual.

You can only change to divert all calls to another number!

Well done Orange!
