Guest akki007 Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Ok, I've got a SafeCom WiFi card in my M500. How on earth do I connect to the internet through my wireless setup at home??? It finds the network but when I open IE it uses GPRS!!!! AAAAAAAAAAARGH! Please help!
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Is your M500 connecting to your WiFi properly? With the card plugged in the GPRS icon should be replaced with a pyramid shaped icon, which (once connected to your wireless LAN) should have 2 circles at the top representing the connection being active. Mine worked fine first time - using WiFi when it was there and GPRS when not. There may be settings somewhere but I've never seen them.
Guest vijay555 Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 akki007 - open the safecom wifi utility and see if you're connected properly to your home setup - it should show that you've been assigned an IP address by your router if you're connected correctly. It's best to try connecting up without WEP etc enabled, ensure the wifi works, and then enable wep, to isolate any problems. Try hitchiker as well for a user friendly interface. V
Guest akki007 Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Ta, will have a look into it. Do I not have to set up anything in the connections window. I have "T-Mobile GPRS WAP" and "Work". Do I not need a "Wireless" entry in there???? (I have no idea what Im talking about! HA HA)

Guest akki007 Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Ok, in the "Configure Network Adapters" screen, My Netword Card Connects To.... Work. I can change to The Internet but when I go back into the screen, its gone back to Work!!
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Ah, now then. Mine did that when the SD Wifi card died. Try it another device (if you can) and check that it is actually connecting to the network - I suspect you'll find it's not Mine came from eBuyer and they have refunded the cost (I got a replacement elsewhere because eBuyer had no more stock).

It will then use the wireless card.
