Guest Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 (edited) Like many people have found, according to Parrot, you cannot control the volume of an original Parrot CK3000 handsfree kit when using a Microsoft platform phone or PDA (not the newer Evolution model which has a manual volume control). However, owning one myself and wanting to use it at a normal volume level while driving, I have written a small control pannel applet for the Pocket PC which does let you configure the Parrot's bluetooth speaker and microphone volume! The control is limited in range but it at least lets you turn down the volume of the speaker such that they are not shaking themselves out of the door pannels! The microphone volume can be adjusted as well but I've found that anything above setting 8 (at least in my X5) starts to sound distorted to the listener and the allowed range of 0-15 is hardly discernable when changed to the other person. It comes with no warranties and needs to be manually copied to the \windows directory as I can't be bothered to create an installation cab for it. You then get a new applet on the System tab in Settings. If anyone wants a copy to play with then PM me and I'll email it over - it's only about 13k! (I doubt if there will be enough demand to put it in the download area) I've only tested it on an Orange M500 (Windows Mobile 2003 SE) as that's all I have but in theory it should work on any Windows Mobile 2003 SE Pocket PC. I guess it could even be recompiled to run on the Smartphone platform as well if anyone needs it for e.g. for a C500. I've also tested it using a Plantronics 3000 headset and works fine so it should work for any Bluetooth handsfree system (though I doubt you would need to use it in that situation, since most modern ones have manual volume controls!). Cheers, Marc [EDIT - This is aimed at Windows Mobile 2003 SE users running the Microsoft Bluetooth stack only. Windows Mobile 5 users should have full control of the volume, though I'm not sure?] Edited October 19, 2005 by Guest
