HELP...SMT 5600/C500 Broken LCD Screen

Hi All. I'm new to this board and found it from the Howard Forums site. I dropped my 5600 the other day :oops: and need to find a replacement LCD screen. Does anyone on here know where I can find one??

I have looked on ebay and found one but ended up being out bid on it so now I'm back to searching again.

Any help would be appreciated...Thanks!

Sorry, only reliable source I know is HTC themselves ( in the UK at least) who won't supply componants and will only repair orange or t-mobile branded devices in the UK - they charge £45 for the screen and £45 to fit it IIRC.

Keep checking ebay, but avoid water damaged units as it kills the backlighting on the LCD section.

Does the cost you quoted above cover just the plastic screen itself?

I have cracked mine (the lcd bit is OK). Wondered if I could get just the screen and then follow your guide for replacing it.

Hi, two months ago, Im also have this same predicament of yours. Fortunately here in Philippines, Brightpoint Phils have available LCD for HTC Feeler (O2 XPhone II) since they are the authorized service center of O2 here, so I was able to procure one from them. HTC Feeler and SMT5600 (HTC Typhoon) have same LCD but what I know in your country HTC Feeler is not available so maybe you can try to look for that in EBay.

Hello,

no, that's just for the LCD, I think it's an extra £15 for cosmetic front cover replacement plus the labour - I worked it out to about £70 (!) for cosmetic refurb here plus you loose your handset for 10 days.

I've got the front fascia's on ebay for £12 plus postage here and I do have black orange branded ones if audiovox isn't your thing. You can change the front fascia without voiding the warranty sticker if you're careful. Changing the front perspex is only in extreme circumstances IMO - eg if you've got a silver SPV or have already customised the cover.

I think I will live with the crack rather than having to buy a new facia.

Looking to get a new phone soon, so the 500 will be a spare/in the pub.
