Guest PPCPassion Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me setting up Long date format on Orange C550. I tried changing date format in OrangeHome.xml but it did not help. I tried to change registry setting in HKLM>Overrides>Dste setting but of no use (this tweaked always worked on PPC but not on SP, I guess?). Whenever I use any other Homescreen with RJ Time plug in, I do see long date format (as set in XML) but for some reasons, using Orange's default date/carrier plug in, no matter what I change in Orange's Home xml, it does not change anything. Not sure, may be it has to do with Orange's default plug in's DLL file. Any help will be appreciated.
Guest PPCPassion Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Try this: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for trying to help me. I did try but it did not work. These settings work with any other homescreen except with default Orange screen plug in. When used these settings with default Orange screen, it just creates an extra space at the bottom. Thanks for your help. I appreciate the effort.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 Hi :o The registry key for Long style date format is at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls\overrides\SLDte Default value of SLDte is dddd MMMM dd, yyyy. You can use ddd MMM, yyyy as new format so that what will appear on the screen would be Sat Oct, 01, 2005 Then inside root Windows folder, look for full.home.xml then edit on your PC. On the XML, look for: You need to change the XML's file attribute to archive so you can edit the values. Ensure that you have date...mode="long". Transfer edited XML to Home folder (Storage\Application Data\Home) then choose the layout fro Settings > Homescreen. Restart device. :(

Actually, I got the idea of customizing C550 from your blog at: http://www.gpcarreon.com/?p=16 I did edit the full.home.xml file as per your instructions. This layout is not even showing up under settings >homescreen option, although the file is there. However, I did notice that instead of Orange defalut HS, if I chose Windows default or basic screen, it DOES show long date format. See attached image of HS and attached xml file. Thanks again for your help. BTW, after reading your blog, I was able to atleast change the Orange plug in URLs :?:full.home.xmlss000.bmp
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 2, 2005 Report Posted October 2, 2005 Hi there PPC Passion, On my phone, I have these configurations (Settings > Regional Settings) then the nls overrides tweak I previously mentioned. Try this config first after you have tweaked your SLDte value. Attached is an edited XML. Transfer to Home folder, look for 'Edit 1' under layout, load it and then restart your device. edit1.home.xml Let me know how it goes. :o

No success again. Under the layout, edit1 is not an option to select. This is not the first time, at least 50% of the edited xml files don't show up in the layout option. I never had this problem with my SMT5600 but for some reasons, Orange C550 is giving me hard time. It's not a big deal. I did not know it was going to be so complicated process. So don't worry about it. All other homescreens are showing long date format, its only orange one that's giving me hard time. Thanks again for your time and help.
