Activesync required

I don't have my own computer with me here in London and I want to put some homescreens on my phone. Can I do this just by plugging in the usb cable or do I need to install activesync software?

For clarity: I just want to open up the My Smartphone folder in My Computer. It doesn't seem to appear.

You need to install activesync.
