Guest fluffcat1 Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 (edited) Latest batch of c500's arrived today, chucked my test/spare screen into one with a dead screen (not broken, dead, no cracks etc) and all seems ok until the screen times out and goes off. When I press a key it just lights up white, no colour display. All the functions of the phone are still working, and if I reboot, the screen immediatley comes back until the next time out. If I set the time out to zero it functions ok but obviously will affect batt. life. I think possibly the voltage regulator to the LCD is shot as it's ok at startup but was wondering if anyone had any ideas? The LCD is a known working unit. I've loaded the latest orange rom, can't see any corrosion on the board but as I said before, the phone's original LCD was dead with no damage. I'm going to go hunting on the original screens ribbon for clues... I'll leave the board overnight in waterbath to see if it lifts anything nasty off the board but I'm stumped  Richard edit - forgot to add, there's expressly no warranty on these units so no point me trying to send it back to HTC.
