Guest fraser Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Hey all, Can anyone tell me if the WM2003 edition Outlook allows you to use a non-default port for IMAPS in the mail settings? 2002 doesn't, and it's prevented me from getting my mail without firing up an SSH tunnel first. Mighty annoying. However, I'd upgrade if I knew this were possible on the new version. Running a private server on a default port is not recommended; every hacked zombie will find it, and log it along with the patch rev of the server. When a vunerability is found for a particular server version, those lists come out and all of those who take a week to patch in the fix get hacked... :o If you run the server of a randomly chosen high port number, it's like needing a password just to connect. Keeps the old head down... Cheers, Fraser.
