GPRS Data Usage for checking POP3 mail

Hi guys - a question I've been wondering about:

I've got an SPV C500 which I regularly use as a mobile email client. I was recently abroad and often checked my POP3 accounts using the phone via GPRS. What I would like to know is:

How many KBs of data is used every time I check my POP mail account but don't have any new messages - i.e. opening and closing the connection to my mailbox?

I would assume my total figure per session for data usage when I do have new mails is this amount plus that which I specify for downloading message headers on the Smartphone message client.
